The reveal: fireworks as Zion takes first place, over Yellowstone in second and Glacier in third. A ballot with Zion ranked first and Yellowstone second, and three destinations left to place.

How it works

How to pick a vacation as a group, step by step

Here's one vote, a family of five choosing a national park for the summer trip, screen by screen.

  1. The Choices screen with National Parks selected, Yellowstone, Zion and Acadia added, and more destinations suggested below.

    1Step 1 of 6

    Add the destinations

Tap Next Vacation on the home screen. Bestof suggests U.S. national parks to start from; tap a few, or type in the cities, beaches and road trips you're weighing. Keep only the ones that fit the budget and the dates.

  2. Setting up a vote called Next Vacation as a Single Winner vote, with five destinations.

    2Step 2 of 6

    Start the vote

Keep Single Winner and tap Start Hosting. If everyone's in the same place, phones on the same Wi‑Fi join directly.

Family in other states? With Bestof Unlocked, share a link and leave the vote open for a few days, so everyone can look things up before ranking.

  3. The host's room with five people joined: Majestic Akita, Kate, Maya, Owen and Ray.

    3Step 3 of 6

    Everyone joins

Nearby phones join with one tap, and with a link, people join over the internet from anywhere, on iPhone or Android. When everyone's in, tap Start Vote.

  4. A ballot with Zion ranked first and Yellowstone second, and three destinations left to place.

    4Step 4 of 6

    Everyone ranks, in private

Each person taps the destinations in order, dream trip first. Ballots stay private, so nobody has to talk anyone into anything.

  5. The reveal: fireworks as Zion takes first place, over Yellowstone in second and Glacier in third.

    5Step 5 of 6

    Reveal the trip

When the last ballot is in, every phone plays the reveal at once: third place, then second, then fireworks for where you're going.

  6. Results for Next Vacation, with Zion winning, Yellowstone second, and a consensus meter reading Close call.

    6Step 6 of 6

    See why it won

Yellowstone got the most first picks, but Zion was high on nearly everyone's list, so it's the trip the whole group is excited about. Now book it.
