The reveal: fireworks as Back to the Future takes first place, over Toy Story in second and Shrek in third. A ballot with Back to the Future ranked first and Toy Story second, and three movies left to place.

How it works

How to pick a movie as a group, step by step

Here's one vote, five friends choosing tonight's movie, screen by screen.

  1. The Choices screen with Movies selected, Toy Story, Spirited Away and Back to the Future added, and more movies suggested below.

    1Step 1 of 6

    Add the movies

Tap Which Movie? on the home screen. Bestof suggests popular movies; tap a few, or type in whatever's streaming tonight. Mix up the kinds of movie so the vote means something.

  2. Setting up a vote called Which Movie? as a Single Winner vote, with five movies.

    2Step 2 of 6

    Start the vote

Keep Single Winner and tap Start Hosting. You can also choose how people join: nearby phones on the same Wi‑Fi, a link for people elsewhere, or one phone passed down the couch.

Planning a watch party for later? With Bestof Unlocked, share a link and leave the vote open for a day.

  3. The host's room with five people joined: Majestic Akita, Ben, Chloe, Nate and Zoe.

    3Step 3 of 6

    Friends join with a tap

Phones on the same Wi‑Fi find your vote and join with one tap. There are no accounts or codes to type. When everyone's in, tap Start Vote.

  4. A ballot with Back to the Future ranked first and Toy Story second, and three movies left to place.

    4Step 4 of 6

    Everyone ranks, in private

Each person taps the movies in order, best first. Ballots stay private, so nobody has to defend their pick or veto yours out loud.

  5. The reveal: fireworks as Back to the Future takes first place, over Toy Story in second and Shrek in third.

    5Step 5 of 6

    Reveal tonight's movie

When the last ballot is in, every phone plays the reveal at once: third place, then second, then fireworks for the winner.

  6. Results for Which Movie?, with Back to the Future winning, Toy Story second, and a consensus meter reading Close call.

    6Step 6 of 6

    See why it won

Toy Story had the most first picks, but Back to the Future was high on nearly everyone's list, so it's the movie the whole room will actually watch. Popcorn time.
